TRACER COMPOUND

The tracer compound is available in convenient to use 5lb. containers. For every 1000 ft. of filter cloth area, one pound of trace compound is used.

To determine the quantity of tracer compound needed to run one test, simply follow the formula below:

FORMULA: (A) x 3.14 x (B) x (C) / 144 = (D). Diameter in inches (A) x 3.14 x Length in inches (B) x # of filter bags (C) / 144 = total ft.2 of filter clothe area (D). Since 1 LB. of tracer compound per 1000 sq.. ft. of filter cloth is required then (D) / 1000 = # of pounds = required for test. EXAMPLE: Diameter = 5", Length = 8', # Bags = 350 5 x 3.14 x 96 x 350 / 144 = 3663 sq. ft. 3663 / 1000 = 3.7 lbs. of Visolite powder (in this case, round up to 4 lbs) Note: If the square footage of filter cloth per compartment of baghouse is already known, simply divide by 1000 to obtain the number of pounds of Visolite powder to use.

ADDITION AL RECOMMENDATIONS

If possible, before introducing Tracer Compound, turn off or disengage the pulse, shaker or repressuring system. On multiple compartment units, make sure that all dampers are open ensuring distribution of Tracer material to all compartments. Before commencing detection, allow the eyes a short period to adjust to the darkness of the baghouse. Carry a flashlight and chalk or "Magic Marker" to mark leaks for closer visual inspection later and to facilitate location of needed repairs when the lights are on.

If the clean air section is extremely deep in dust, some of problem areas will become difficult to detect through the dust build up. We recommend the removal of only extraordinary dust accumulations before commencing the inspection. After bag replacements or repairs have been performed, it is advisable to repeat the inspection procedure using an alternate contrasting coloured compound that is made available for this purpose.
